Our Mission is simple...
Strengthening communities through housing technology.
The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, through the Open Source Rural Housing Innovation, LLC, Muscatine Community College, and Iowa State University have united together to create and test alternative housing building technologies to decrease building costs, improve speed-to-market, provide extreme weather resistance, and reduce utility and maintenance expense. Housing changes lives, improves education, betters health, and catalyzes economic growth.
A startling stat - 68% of counties in the United States have populations of less than 50,000, yet emphasis and funding is often placed on urban efforts. Muscatine County, with a population of 42,000, is primed to transform the landscape of rural housing success.

We are deeply impatient in our work. Everything we learn through our innovative prototyping of cutting-edge housing construction will be open-sourced.
"Proprietary" in this work curbs housing, the very thing communities need the most.
